WHAT’S THE TEAM LIKE

The General Manager, Field Maintenance & Mobile Services provides strategic oversight, operational leadership, and mentorship to ensure departmental operations are aligned with the corporate strategic plan and annual business goals. This position is responsible for delivering fleet management and day-of operations for airfield and groundside environments, ensuring high performance, compliance, and efficiency. As a senior member of the leadership team, the General Manager collaborates across departments to support Airfield Operations, fosters a culture of teamwork, safety, and promotes corporate values.

WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES 

  • Implement strategic plans aligned with the company’s objectives.
  • Contribute to the development of strategic plans.
  • Support the development of business plans and integrated (connected) work plans for the department, including programs and projects as appropriate.
  • Implement work plans, oversee and conduct daily operations to ensure efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Establish and maintain departmental policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  • Execute financial decisions in accordance with the established and approved departmental budget.
  • Contribute to the annual budget development by preparing departmental budget submissions.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline such as Business Administration, Aviation Studies, Engineering, or equivalent experience is required. Relevant experience in lieu of education may be considered.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Restricted Area Identification Card (RAIC)
  • 8 to 10 years of progressive management experience in operations management, fleet management, airfield operations, or related field.
  • Minimum of 3–5 years in people management, including oversight of front-line operations professionals.
  • Proven ability to resolve complex, multi-team challenges with data-driven decision-making.
  • Track record of implementing short-term strategies, managing departmental-level changes, or driving process improvement.
  • Experience in selecting and managing external vendors and key stakeholders.
  • Past experience working within a unionized environment and in the collective bargaining process.
  • Example of a tangible metric you could add: Demonstrated experience de-escalating high intensity situations in a professional work environment
  • As this position is considered safety-sensitive, candidates must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as part of the hiring process.
  • This role includes driving as part of its duties; therefore, candidates will be required to provide a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a current driver’s abstract as part of the hiring process.

WHAT ADDITIONAL SKILLS ARE AN ASSET

  • Strong knowledge of Transport Canada Canadian Aviation Regulations and standards related to aerodrome operations and safety, including TP312 and Safety Management Systems (SMS).
  • Proficiency with digital fleet management platforms, telematics, and data analytics tools for operational efficiency and asset utilization.
  • Experience in aerodrome operations and planning.
  • Extensive experience in fleet management, transportation specifications & application, and development of maintenance standards. 
  • Ability to learn and effectively utilize different software platforms (e.g., Oracle, Dayforce, Telematics, etc.).
  • Strong analytical and conceptual skills for identifying and addressing real and potential opportunities/threats to airfield operations.
