WHAT’S THE TEAM LIKE
The facility maintenance team ensures the smooth operation of all spaces at a busy 24/7 airport, keeping terminals, offices, and other buildings safe, functional, and well-maintained. They handle maintenance repairs, project related work, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems to support airport operations and passenger comfort. This team ensures safe, efficient, and reliable operations, supporting 24/7 airport activities and driving smart building initiatives.
WHAT ARE SOME OF THE RESPONSIBILITIES
- Act as the primary structural point of contact for airport redevelopment projects including terminal construction, infrastructure upgrades, and tenant development projects.
- Ensure structural scope is incorporated into planning, design, construction, commissioning, and close-out activities.
- Evaluate drawings, specifications, and contractor submissions, and coordinate responses to technical inquiries.
- Communicate structural requirements, resolve coordination issues, and align stakeholders on technical expectations.
- Assess structural risks, design gaps, and compliance concerns, escalating as required to engineering or leadership.
- Monitor on-site work to ensure adherence to Calgary Airports standards, NBCC, and applicable CSA requirements.
- Validate structural system readiness, confirm completion of deliverables, and ensure seamless integration with existing infrastructure.
WHAT DO YOU NEED TO BRING

- Minimum post-secondary diploma in Structural Engineering Technology or Civil Engineering Technology or a related field is required.
- 4-6 years of hands-on experience in structural construction, building systems, or infrastructure projects delivery is required.
- Strong knowledge of structural systems and construction practices.
- The ability and technical proficiency to interpret drawings, specifications, and code requirements to assess compliance and support project delivery.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
- The ability to manage competing priorities.
- This role supports airport redevelopment projects within a 24/7 operational environment and participates in a rotational on‑call program to address issues occuring outside of regular working hours.
- As this position is considered safety-sensitive, candidates must successfully complete pre-employment drug and alcohol testing as part of the hiring process.
- This role includes driving as part of its duties; therefore, candidates will be required to provide a valid Class 5 driver’s license and a current driver’s abstract as part of the hiring process.
WHAT ADDITIONAL SKILLS ARE AN ASSET
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural or Civil Engineering.
- Professional designation (P.Eng., CET, or equivalent).
- Experience working in a regulated, safety-sensitive environment is considered an asset.
- Experience working in a large-scale, 24/7 facility is an asset.
- Bilingual in English and French
